Family Mindfulness and Music with Shana Smith

  • Third House Books & Coffee 113 North Main Street Gainesville, FL, 32601 United States (map)

Come join us with Shana Smith for an afternoon of family mindfulness and music. Learn to meditate and then teach your parents!

Shana will talk about the importance of practicing mindfulness as a way to remind parents that they, too, deserve the type of mindful care they teach their children. Shana will also lead a Good Energy Musical Mindfulness (GEMM) circle. This is an all ages event! Her recently published book, Meditation for Moms and Dads, will be available for purchase.

Shana Smith is a mom, musician, meditator, marine biologist, teacher, and writer. She is an avid and longtime student of Zen and Buddhism, a decades-long yogi, and a much sought-after kirtaniya, or devotional chanting, leader. Known across the state of Florida and the U.S. for the past 20 years as her children’s entertainment persona “Shana Banana,” Shana and her family (husband Dan, daughter Grace Ohana, and son Benny Albert)
have settled down in Gainesville, Florida to run their meditation- and yoga-based Gainesville Retreat Center, which attracts many renowned teachers and practitioners.
